Project Review: Aroma Padi

The restaurant takes its name within the sensation of grain in Bahasa and offers a Nusantara Peranakan-inspired menu, as well as a host of dishes that make use of Malaysian-Indonesian ingredients. Located in the street full of restaurants in Cipete Raya, the space combines an industrial warehouse palette with elegant elements that exude a “luxury experience from the moment you walk in. The formal structures of the space are exposed to obtain an industrial atmosphere within the restaurant. Tall ceilings, glass windows in front and back are the key details to keep the ambience warm and full of natural lighting. Above hangs a series of refined lamps of prism glass and brownish industrial lamps, while tiles have been applied in a flowery pattern on the floor.

Tables with sand-blasted marble and wooden countertops have been closely nestled together along with various forms of seating in an attempt by the designer to create a different touch in each area. Some tables are surrounded by sofas, metal, wooden, foam chairs and upholstered in Leder Haus leather collection. In designing a restaurant, upholstery plays a key role in creating the desired atmosphere. And also choosing leather for upholstery means easy clean and maintenance. Whereas the comfort level of furniture along with good food and ambience is what makes it one whole dining experience.
